Social Impact of the Year 2000

Ever since he could remember, Christopher loved to swim. At age 13, he decided to use his passion to advocate for mental health. In 2015, he held his first 12-hour “swimathon,” where he used the physical struggle of endurance swimming to provide insight into the struggle of mental illness. This led him to found Swim For Change. Today, the nonprofit has impacted 6,000+ young South Africans through mental health workshops, blogs and a podcast. In 2019, Swim For Change was nominated for the International Children’s Peace Prize Award and Christopher was invited to the Nobel Peace Laureate Youth Summit in Merida, Mexico.

David He is the Co-Founder of The Global Spotlight, an organisation that empowers young people to take action for sustainable change. Since launching in 2017, they've led a variety of campaigns, workshops and conferences that have reached over 227,000 students across over 95 countries with established independent chapters in 8 countries.In 2021, David was appointed to the Prime Minister's Youth Council by PM Trudeau to provide non-partisan advice to his office and the federal government on education, economy, climate change and other issues affecting youth.

In April 2020, Haipei founded AppilyDay – a global organisation, which provides healthcare education in marginalised communities.They have created 41 multilingual videos translated in 40+ languages, established 9 youth-led chapters across the U.S., Canada, India and China, engaged 5,000+ young volunteers from 35+ countries and partnered with 7 healthcare centers in Seattle.

After helping his aunt distribute food to the Chicago homeless, Jakhil Jackson wanted to do more to make a difference. Jakhil wanted to build awareness of homelessness and help the homeless population by offering them what he calls “Blessing Bags,” a giveaway filled with wipes, socks, deodorant, hand sanitizer, granola bars, toothbrushes, toothpaste, bottled water, and more.In just a few years, Jahkil has led Project I Am’s efforts in raising $200,000 for the homeless. Jahkil’s efforts have supported 60,000 men, women and children across the world.

At the end of 2020, Jeeva founded Privando – an organization that helps women in India persevere through sexual assault. Privando empowers women in India with self-defense training, wearable technology to stay safe, sexual harassment education and the tools to create legislation related to sexual harassment. During 2020 Privando supported 1,232 survivors in India, some of whom were at risk for human trafficking, and expanded to 164 chapters across India, the United States and Africa. Working closely with Indian Government Officials, Privando has also worked to draft and implement laws to decrease sexual assault.

At just 15 years old, Jenk Oz is the Founder and CEO of thred media, an award-winning media company for Gen Z. The company sees monthly visitors from over 190 countries and has won several awards including four W3 Awards, an International Davey Award, Amazon.com AWS Activator Award.Jenk has given two TEDx Talks, been featured in Forbes and been nominated as ‘Progress 1000: Most Influential Person - Science and Tech’.

José Adolfo Quisocala is the Co-Founder of Banco del Estudiante ("Green Bank"), which promotes financial education for children whilst raising awareness about waste. It offers school children with cash for recycling plastic waste. Kids whose parents cannot afford to send their children to school are invited to shops and businesses to collect waste. To date, over 2500 children have joined Banco del Estudiante and used the money they've earned from recycling waste to feed themselves and attend school.

Louise Dg Mabulo is an award-winning chef, farmer and entrepreneur. She is the Founder of The Cacao Project, which cultivates resilient and climate-smart livelihoods. The project involves providing farmers with cacao plant seedlings and teaching them how to sustainably produce cacao. To date it has planted 85,000 trees covering 85 hectares, and trained over 200 farmers. She is also a National Geographic Young Explorer, a featured honouree for Forbes Asia’s list ‘30 Under 30’, a Young Champion of the Earth under United Nations Environment Programme, an honouree of Tatler’s ‘Generation T’, and was awarded Outstanding Young Farmer of the Year in 2018.

Neha is the Founder of Innovation Corner (IC), which inspires young innovators to leverage science and technology to solve global problems. IC leads workshops to connect youth and industry experts, share Neha’s 3-step innovation framework to create real-world solutions, and educate youth on emerging technology. IC has worked with 23,000+ students and industry leaders across the United States and worldwide. Neha’s work has been featured by the New York Times and featured on the Nasdaq screen in Times Square, NYC. In March 2020, Neha also created SixFeetApart – a wearable social-distancing device that uses microcontrollers and ultrasonic technology to alert users when approaching people cross CDC's guidelines of a 6-foot distance.

Rayan Garg is the co-founder and Executive President of Elevate the Future, a nonprofit increasing business and computer science education through classes, summits and various initiatives. Since launching, Elevate the Future has impacted over 5000 students in 40 chapters around the world, and partnered with organisations such as the Department of Defense, the Department of State, and Google. With over 400 volunteers driving their work, Rayan has been featured on the New York Times, Yahoo Finance and more.In the brink of the COVID pandemic, Rayan decided to launch Project Falcon to support small businesses. Together with their team, the project built over 30 websites to help struggling businesses automate sales. They even partnered with Grow with Google to increase the visibility of struggling businesses on Google.

In September 2018 Razel cofounded Kahon ng Karunungan (KnK), which translates to “Knowledge in a Box.” KnK is a nonprofit organization reducing educational inequity in the Philippines and globally. KnK has distributed self-learning kits to 7,200+ students across the Philippines, Nigeria, Cameroon and the United States. The kits simulate the Department of Education’s curriculum and includes all core subjects, with additional topics intended to meaningfully decolonize and contextualize the traditional curriculum. The company also runs a blog to shed light on the causes of educational inequity, and a newsletter, Kahon Monthly, to update readers on relevant education news.

In February 2019 Reece founded Earth Kids Org (EKO) to provide children with environmental education and empower them to become eco-warriors and advocates. Since 2019 EKO has reached 3,000+ individuals worldwide through awareness actions, educated 1,500+ children in Cape Town and engaged an additional 2,000+ individuals in their mission
