Learning Community

a community for social enterprises that want to support

young people to grow, lead, and thrive

Young people bring fresh ideas, energy, and leadership to social enterprises. But too often, they’re only seen as beneficiaries of impact, not partners in change-making.

They’re brought in too late, given too little responsibility, or left out of decision-making altogether. And when that happens, we lose out on the insight, creativity, and lived experience they bring.

OUR GOALS

This Learning Community will help social enterprises unlock the potential of young people — supporting them to lead, share ideas, and drive change. Together, we will:

  • Identify the barriers and opportunities for meaningful youth engagement
  • Build clear, effective channels to connect and engage with young people
  • Share tools to attract, train, and retain young talent
  • Find practical strategies to embed youth voice and leadership
  • Create real pathways that enable youth to lead, grow, and make an impact

How it works

This is a dynamic, free space where social enterprises can connect, grow, and learn how to engage young people effectively.

We will be hosting:

  • Online community of practice sessions from April 2025 to March 2026, offering a structured space for learning, sharing experiences, and discussing youth engagement strategies.
  • Peer-led masterclasses, where members have the chance to take turns leading sessions on topics they’re experts in, sharing practical tools and tips.
  • FMN’s resource library will provide easy access to guides, templates, and case studies for organisations.

This learning community is commissioned by Social Enterprise Australia as part of the Australian Government’s Social Enterprise Development Initiative (SEDI). It aims to build social enterprise sector capability to grow social impact.
