But these skills are difficult to teach in schools and universities with limited time and expertise. That’s where we come in.

We offer a number of programs to high schools and universities across Australia. These include:
Workshops
1 – 2 hour workshops that help students understand skills they need for the future
Topics can range from
- Entrepreneurship as a career
- How to build professional relationships around your passion
- Creativity 101
- Leading with purpose
Build-a-thons
Two-week hackathons that help students build their own businesses. They’ll get to work in teams, create their first prototype, and embrace innovation in the products/services they come up with.
They’ll practice key skills like:
- Extended problem-solving
- Pitching & Communication
- Teamwork & Collaboration
- Harnessing Creativity
Bootcamps
Semester-long experience that gives students the space to ideate, validate and launch real businesses.
They’ll get to learn everything in the build-a-thon and more:

The skills we teach
Creativity – connecting the dots with different information to present something ‘new’.

With such a jam-packed curriculum, sometimes we don’t have time to incorporate all the job-ready skills too. Even with time, you can’t study to harness a skill like creativity. It takes practice.

1. Career Compass
The Unconventional
It’s so easy to feel like employment is a one-stop shop. It’s far from it. Many of us discover our dream careers by accident.
We sit down with 3-4 incredible young innovators and thinkers who have taken an unconventional career path. Facilitated by the Future Minds team, we’ll hear from how these legends have sparked their passions accidentally on purpose, navigated career challenges and major career changes from DJ to venture capitalist!

Office Hours
A program which provides ongoing mentorship that helps young people thrive. It includes fireside chats with:
- 1 brilliant innovator, technologist or entrepreneur
- Up to 30 people in a session
- 45 – 75 minute sessions
After 5 fireside chats with mentors, young people will get to be part of an online community. Here they can ask all their burning questions and active mentors will problem-solve.
The team at Future Minds will support young people with further Zoom calls for those needing mentorship in specific areas.

2. Leaders and Entrepreneurs
Overrated Ideas: The Art of Planning & Leadership
This is designed for dreamers with innovative ideas, who have experimented with them but still feel lost. It is the perfect introduction for young people who want to build a plan for a social change initiative, know the next steps and action it with confidence. It will cover:
- Ideas, now what?
- Planning for success: people, profit, place
- Building a minimum viable product
- Human centred design: building solutions that work
- Build, measure, learn
Duration: 1 hour – 1.5 hours
Youth Social Enterprise Markets
This is the perfect program for young people to discover themselves, and a new career pathway. Youth Markets helps young dreamers and creators to learn the basics of business, grow their confidence, and transform talents into income.
Typically delivered as a one-day bootcamp, with the following 5 sessions:
- Small Business 101: debunking common myths about business, social enterprise and exploring the assumptions of changemaking
- Communicate with Confidence: master the art of storytelling and how to grow an audience of new customers
- Manifest In and Stand Out: reimagine your unique values as a business, your revenue stream and learn to stand out from the crowd
- Don’t Break the Bank: learn about different business strategies, how to register your business ABN, and make a sustainable and effective financial plan
- Healthy Balance: hear from social entrepreneurs on the strategies to avoid burnout and find a healthy balance
Duration: 3-5 hours (modules will be adjusted)

Outcomes: Program participants have now built social enterprises that harness the power of 3D-printing. Others have started global charities with over 1,000 volunteers.
3. Intrapreneurs and Innovators
Crisis Innovation
Challenges are simply untapped opportunities. This workshop explores how every part of management can reimagine how they harness creativity and solutions building to tackle crises.
- Systems thinking and design: exploring underlying systemic challenges and harnessing opportunities to catalyse leadership
- Ideation: harnessing creativity for problem-first ideas, and gaining insight on how to pivot or persevere around intersecting global crisis
- Rapid scaling: Collecting crucial customer data, prototyping the first iteration of a product/service, and building brand presence
Duration: 1 hour – 1.5 hours
Adjustments: can be adapted into hackathon style, which we have run globally across the UK, US, Estonia, Finland, Australia and more

Communicating Complexity: Pitching and Storytelling 101
Fundamentally, we all understand the social change that climate solutions can achieve. But how do we convince the public of its importance? How do we evoke emotion and catalyse global movements through story? This is what this workshop will cover.
- Navigating complexity: develop the ability to effectively articulate and translate complex ideas in and engaging manner, be it initiatives, case studies or models
- Articulation: using empathy and human-first approach to tell compelling stories
- Communicative flexibility: mastering crucial elements of communication and confidence to pitch solutions, secure global partnerships to invest and execute solutions or create allies in your work
Duration: 1 hour – 1.5 hours
Outcomes: fan favourite, participants have gone on to secure a $1 million funding round
